Los Gatos says
No Kings
Join Us
March 28th, 10am-Noon
On March 28th, the third No Kings protest will be held across the country and around the world to protest the lawless and depraved Trump regime and the fascist MAGA movement, to demonstrate our support for the Constitution and the rule of law, and to demand accountability from political and corporate leaders.
Los Gatos No Kings 3 will be held on Los Gatos Boulevard between Los Gatos Almaden Road and Gateway Drive, from 10am to noon. Our last No Kings event in October drew over 600 people, and this time we expect to fill both sides of Los Gatos Boulevard with music, fun, and over a thousand peaceful and joyful defenders of democracy!
Participants are encouraged to bring their own signs, costumes, and flags, and to express themselves! We are a diverse and growing community of individuals, each with our own issues and priorities we care most about - but we share common cause and stand in solidarity and opposition to this anti-democratic President and his shameful abdication of our deepest and most American of values.
We will provide a limited amount of water and snacks (as well as some signs and costumes for those without their own). As it may be hot, you may want to bring your own water or a hat or other sun protection. For those who will want to sit, please bring a portable chair. There are also many local businesses nearby where you can find water and food.
Parking
While there is street parking available along both sides of Los Gatos Boulevard, we ask that you do not park in these spaces, to leave more room for you and your fellow protesters. The nearest parking lots are shown on the map above, and there are many other lots along Los Gatos Boulevard as well as plenty of street parking on side streets.
Safety
This is a peaceful protest along both sides of a major road. There is lots of traffic - the more pro-democracy honks the better! - and for the safety of all participants we ask you to stay out of the bike and car lanes (parking lane is fine), and to stay out of driveways and off of private property.
We do not expect any agitators or counter-protesters, but just in case there will be dedicated Peace Ambassadors in yellow vests. If you have any problems with dangerous individuals, do not engage and instead find someone in a yellow vest to help defuse the situation.
We also ask that all participants cross the busy road only at crosswalks. There are crosswalks at three places along the route: at Los Gatos Almaden Road, at Gateway Drive, and roughly in the middle, at the entrances to the Trader Joes and McDonalds parking lots (as shown on the map above). There will be crossing guards (in orange vests) stationed at each of these to ensure everyone’s safety.
Community
As our nation falls deeper into fascism, it is becoming increasingly clear that we need to be connected to one another, to defend and protect our community and shared values. It is so important to find a group that resonates with you: one that shares your values, that will boost your spirits when needed and offer opportunities for impactful action. Community is key.
Below is a list of Activist Groups in our area. Follow each link to learn more. Go to a meeting or two. Get on the mailing list. Maybe you are not ready to be in community, but doing the groundwork now paves the way for the time that you feel the need.
Remember: action is the antidote for despair and courage is contagious!
